
Ready, willing, and able to volunteer at convention? Then, look no further. If you’ve got the time to spare, then we have a job for you. Below are all the volunteer positions we’ll need filled to make the Alpha Phi Omega 2008 National Convention the best one yet!
Please sign up for as many positions as you would like by emailing the appropriate contact person provided. We welcome all volunteers. Special souvenir t-shirts are offered those who log enough hours.
Banquets:
The Banquets Committee is responsible for the planning and execution of both the Fellowship Banquet and the Awards Banquet at convention. We are looking for:
break down for banquets, and assist in the arrangement centerpieces and other decorations. No heavy lifting anticipated. You can choose to help with either setup or break down, or help with both.
2. Ushers – Volunteers
would be responsible for collecting tickets and directing banquet
attendees to appropriate seats.
Minimum volunteer time: 1 hour

Dances & Entertainment:
The Dances and Entertainment
Committee is responsible for planning and staffing two
dances, and all entertainment and fellowship WITHIN the hotel. We
are looking for:
1. Setup/Breakdown Crew – Volunteers will be responsible for general setup and break down for banquets and other major fellowships, as well as decorating for these events. You can choose to help with either setup or break down, or help with both. No heavy lifting anticipated.

Opening Ceremonies:
The Opening Ceremonies Committee is responsible for the planning, coordination and execution of all activities pertaining to the formal opening of convention, including any associated rituals and roll call. We are looking for:

Project Be Kind:
Project Be Kind is responsible for planning and coordinating “A
Taste of Boston,” a new program will allow Voting Delegates to take
an extended lunch break to Quincy Market on Monday, December
29th. This will be an opportunity to thank these
brothers for their hard work by allowing them to leave the
legislative floor and experience the city of Boston. We are looking

Registration:
The Registration Committee is responsible for planning, coordinating, and organizing the registration of all convention attendees. We are looking for:

Safety & Security:
The Safety and Security Committee is responsible for ensuring the safety and wellbeing of conference attendees by publishing a “Safety Tips” handout, advising attendees against unsafe conduct, and patrolling the convention facilities to maintain peace and the fraternity’s relationship with other guests and hotel staff. We are looking for:
Security Patrol – Volunteers will be responsible for pairing up and patrolling the Sheraton Boston during the nights of convention. Primary responsibilities include ensuring the safety of conference attendees, and enforcing hotel and fraternity regulations.

Sergeant at Arms & Floor Services:
The Sergeant at Arms & Floor Services Committee is responsible for assisting with the legislative process by providing Sergeant at Arms for each Reference Committee and to keep order at the legislative sessions, as well as coordinating Floor Services aides for vote counting, message delivery, etc. We are looking for:
2. Floor Services – Volunteers will be responsible for counting votes on the legislative floor, delivering messages and other items between delegates and to the outside world, and otherwise keeping the legislative sessions running smoothly.

3. Sergeant at Arms, Legislative Sessions – Volunteers will be responsible for ensuring that only attendees with the proper credentials enter and exit the legislative floor at the appropriate times. They are also responsible for maintaining order in the Gallery.

Workshops:
The Workshops Subcommittee is responsible for planning and coordinating workshops at convention, as well as organizing presenters. We are looking for:Workshop Ambassadors – Volunteers would be responsible for directing presenters to their rooms, introducing presenters at the beginning of the workshop, and handing out and collecting preprinted evaluations at the end of the workshop.
