Phyllis C. Tenney Excellence in Advising Award

Phyllis Churchill Tenney, or "Mrs. T" as she is affectionately known, had been a Chapter Advisor since 1969 at the Phi Epsilon Chapter at Maine Maritime Academy in Castine.

With her leadership and effort, she was able to help  students overcome rules against any extracurricular activities and organize a chapter. Throughout her time as an advisor, she has provided a home and a family environment to chapter members.

She helped create a fraternity environment of equal treatment as brothers, despite the military discipline and recognition of rank found on her campus. She has received chapter and section Distinguished Service Keys and was Fall 1985 Pledge Class Namesake Honoree. She is a great leader, and for all her support of Alpha Phi Omega, the 2000 National Convention recognized her by creating the Phyllis Churchill Tenney Excellence in Advising Award.
