INDEPENDENCE, MO. - Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity is proud to announce its selection for the Fall 2016 Pledge Class Namesake Honoree: Brother Fred Heismeyer, Lambda Omicron '73. Brother Heismeyer has a long history with APO, having held several elected and volunteer leadership roles within the Fraternity including National President and Regional Director, as well as his current service as a member of the International Relations Committee.
"I am truly humbled by Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity honoring me as the Fall 2016 Pledge Class Namesake Honoree," says Brother Heismeyer. "This opportunity to actively engage APO brothers to help those in need is an awesome responsibility. I'm excited to meet our Fraternity's newest members over the coming months and making a positive impact on our campuses and in our communities"
Each year, the Alpha Phi Omega Fall Pledge Class Namesake Honoree Committee accepts nominations for the honoree, someone who reflects the Cardinal Principles of Leadership, Friendship and Service. The criteria for nomination includes having a significant, sustaining and positive impact within Alpha Phi Omega at the regional level or higher, or a comparable impact with their work outside of the Fraternity at a national level. The Board of Directors performs the final review and makes a decision at its annual meeting in June.
