Duties of the National Vice President

National Bylaws

Article V, Sections 5 and 12
DUTIES OF THE NATIONAL VICE PRESIDENT. It shall be the duty of the National Vice President to preside in the absence of the National President and perform the duties of that office, and perform such other duties as may be assigned by the National President.

SUCCESSION. In the event the office of National President shall become vacant between National Conventions, the National Vice President shall become National President.


Article VI, Section 2

MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL BOARD OF DIRECTORS. The National Board of Directors shall consist of the following elected members: National President, National Vice President, four district representatives, five members-at-large (two of whom are elected by the National Board of Directors), and the following ex-officio members: National Executive Director, the National Legal Counsel, the Immediate Past National President, and one other Past National President chosen by the remaining Past Presidents.


Article VII, Sections 2

MEMBERS OF THE NATIONAL OPERATIONS COUNCIL. The National Operations Council shall consist of the following members: the National President, as chair, the National Vice President, as vice-chair, one regional chair from each administrative region, a number of national program chairs as established in the Fraternity Operations and Policy Manual, and as an ex-officio, non-voting member, the National Executive Director.

Category II, Subcategory 1

Policy VI. The Spirit and Standards Committee shall be a special national committee and shall monitor and direct investigations of specific charges of chapters, alumni associations, or individuals failing to uphold Alpha Phi Omega membership policies and the risk management policies. The National Vice President shall serve as the chair of the Spirit and Standards Committee.


Category III, Subcategory 1

Policy - XVII. The National President will appoint a committee of Board Members at the winter meeting of the National Board of Directors, to be chaired by the National Vice President, to solicit and consider nominations for that year's Fall Pledge Class Namesake Honor.

Policy XIII. The National Vice President shall serve as the chair of the National Awards Committee.
