The 42nd Biennial National Convention was held December 27-30, 2012, in Anaheim, California. With more than 1,500 brothers in attendance, the Convention was an amazing success for Alpha Phi Omega! The Cardinal Principles were alive and well throughout the four-day event. The Fraternity welcomed a new Board of Directors, handed the Convention Flame over to the bid team from Chicago, Illinois, and honored a number of deserving brothers and chapters at the Awards Banquet!
The Fraternity offered more than 80 workshops throughout the Convention to give attendees the opportunity to expand and/or fine tune their skills as a servant leader. These workshops were well attended and received great feedback. If you attended a workshop and have not completed the online workshop survey, please click here.
In addition to the many leadership development and fellowship options offered at the Convention, attendees had the chance to give back in a variety of ways at the 2012 National Convention. The Fraternity was able to raise more than $2,811 for the Hurricane Sandy Relief Foundation through the sale of gold stars on the APO Walk of Fame and through the Night at the Boardwalk Charity Fundraiser. In addition, the Fraternity made a donation to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society in honor of Brother Maura Harty, Mu Alpha '78, to thank her for speaking at the Convention Fellowship Banquet.
A few other exciting service opportunities attendees participated in were the creation of more than a hundred snowflakes which were sent to Sandy Hook Elementary School to help decorate the new building and welcome students and faculty as they returned to class after the fall semester shooting. Brother also had the unique opportunity to assist with decorating the Disneyland Resort's "Destination: Cars Land" float for the 2012 Tournament of Roses Parade.
Thank you for making the 42nd Biennial National Convention a great success.
See you in Chicago at the 43rd Biennial National Convention!
