Brother Penny was initiated into Beta Delta Chapter at Texas A&M University at Commerce in January 1968. During his eleven years of leadership with SCA, he's helped the organization reach traditionally underrepresented areas of the country through successful programming, engaged more than 50,000 alumni, and supported nearly 4,000 students annually performing almost two million hours of service at 500 public sites.

Judy Mitchell Retires as Director of Chapter Services http://www.apo.org/news/mitchellretiresasdirectorofchapterservices PRESS RELEASE - FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE AND DISTRIBUTION

INDEPENDENCE, MO - After decades of service to Alpha Phi Omega, it is with both sadness and gratitude that Alpha Phi Omega National Service Fraternity announces the retirement of Judy Mitchell, Director of Chapter Services and honorary member of Iota Chapter at Park University. Her retirement will be effective March 15.

Playing a vital role in the growth and expansion of Alpha Phi Omega, Mitchell made a lasting impact on Alpha Phi Omega and the chapters and members she worked with and for.

"Judy's leadership, professionalism and commitment to Alpha Phi Omega are hallmarks of her tenure. She will be greatly missed as a part of the National Office staff," said Bob London, CAE, National Executive Director. "We are thankful for her decades of service and congratulate Judy on her endless contributions to the Fraternity."

Mitchell, who began her career with APO in 1972 and has held her current position since 1980, has been responsible for coordinating the Fraternity's extension program, working closely with new campus efforts, the reactivation of chapters, and providing support and guidance for active chapters.

As a result of Mitchell's retirement, London will be assessing the existing support the National Office staff provides to ensure it is structured to help facilitate the Fraternity's growth.

"I will be looking to reorganize the staff in order to be in the best position possible to support the Fraternity's growing membership and facilitate our goal of 500 chapters by 2025," said London. "With this reorganization, the duties of the Director of Chapter Services will change significantly. We will be sure to keep the members of APO abreast of these changes as they are implemented."

A recognition event for Mitchell is being planned. More information on this event will be released at a later date.

Alpha Phi Omega is a National Coed Service Fraternity—college students gathered together in an organization based on fraternalism and founded on the principles of the Boy Scouts of America. Its purpose is to develop leadership, promote friendship and provide service to humanity. Since 1925, more than 415,000 students have chosen Alpha Phi Omega, making the Fraternity the nation's largest Greek letter fraternity.
