The APO LEADS leadership development program consists of five modular components of leadership development - Launch, Explore, Achieve, Discover and Serve. Each of the components address a different aspect of leadership growth that allows attendees to continue developing skills no matter their level of experience. Collectively, this series is designed to equip attendees with the skills to enable them to be successful leaders and team members in any situation they encounter in college and beyond.

APO LEADS courses (with the exception of Serve) can be requested for presentation at a chapter gathering or conference
Anyone is welcome to attend APO LEADS courses - nonmember, pledge, chapter member, alumni, etc.
Courses are a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 30 attendees.
APO LEADS Launch is a prerequisite for all other course modules, and is available online. All other courses can be taken in any order.
APO LEADS Serve is a weekend-long summer program held at rotating locations around the country

Course Description

Launch focuses on explaining exactly what it is that makes chapters' leadership effective and covers the differences between the traditional notion of leadership and the evolving concept of servant leadership.

Objectives:
•   Increase the participants' knowledge of leadership skills and principles.
•   Understand and utilize the principles of Servant Leadership and understand how it applies to Alpha Phi Omega.
•   Provide active strategies that participants can use in their chapter.
•   Increase participants' awareness of leadership opportunities in Alpha Phi Omega.

Explore teaches students the skills necessary to effectively resolve and manage conflict, discusses the sources of conflict and practicing ethical decision-making, while breaking down different types of conflict and appropriate ways to respond in these situations.

Objectives:
•   To enhance one's knowledge of leadership values and qualities.
•   To understand sources of conflict
•   To put ethical decision making into practice.
•   To differentiate the processes of decision making and problem solving, as well as learn the details of each.
•   To acquire additional understanding and skills in conflict resolution.

Achieve is a course that centers on the advantages of generating a team-like atmosphere by teaching participants a set of skills that set them up to be able to lead their chapters to universal success

Objectives:
•   To provide participants with team approaches and the opportunity to practice these skills.
•   To view a chapter as a team and framework for more effective chapter operations.
•   To understand the stages of a team development and team process.

Discover attendees will learn strategies for assertive communication and self-motivation within the context of the servant chapter model.

Objectives:
•   To understand social interaction styles of yourself and others and their effects on relationships.
•   To provide assertiveness skills that will help you be a better individual, brother, leader and team member.
•   To identify motivating factors that will enable you to be the most effective and efficient in what you want to do.

Serve is the final step in your APO LEADS journey. This weekend-long training session designed to allow students to learn and practically apply project and meeting management and delegation in a group setting. Serve is available during the summer and over President's Day weekend at various locations around the country. There is a $55 student or $75 alumni cost associated with the course that will cover food, supplies, and lodging for the weekend.

Objectives:
•   To provide a framework for effective chapter management
•   To give participants transferable skills that may be used in their careers beyond Alpha Phi Omega
•   To provide future fraternity leaders with management skills
•   To add to the skill sets learned in other APO LEADS courses
•   To create a project plan in small groups which can be adapted at the chapter level
•   To practice project management skills
•   To incorporate the Servant Chapter Organizational function and apply it to the project plan
•   To apply the Servant Leadership Characteristics throughout the weekend
•   To commit to applying the skills learned in your home chapter

To request an APO LEADS course to be presented to your chapter or an event that your chapter is hosting, please complete the form below, specifying which course you would like to see. Only one course may be requested with each submission. If you are hosting conference and would like more than one course, simply complete and submit the form separately for each course.
The person submitting this request & listed as the contact should have the authority and knowledge to make decisions about room arrangements, scheduling and can speak for the Conference Committee/Chapter when contacted by APO LEADS Coordinators. If you have questions regarding the status of your request, please contact the appropriate APO LEADS Course Coordinator. Certificate & Sticker Request

This form is for participants of APO LEADS courses who have not yet received a certificate of completion, or appropriate stickers for their certificate. Certificates are typically sent out by the National Office staff 2-3 weeks after course completion. Stickers are immediately available after course completion. Please DO NOT use this form if it has not been less than 2-3 WEEKS since course completion. Note: If the roster for your APO LEADS Launch course was sent to the National Office after May 1, the certificates will not be mailed until the end of August to avoid being lost during the summer lull of campus mail.
